The main technical university is being decommunized in the Kirovograd region
The Academic Council of the Kirovograd National Technical University and the meeting of the KNTU labor collective on August 29-30 decided to change the name of the educational institution.

“According to the package of “decommunization laws” in Ukraine, the city of Kirovograd was renamed to the city of Kropyvnytskyi, and over time it is planned to give a new name to the Kirovograd region. Therefore, the staff of the Kirovograd National Technical University considers it necessary to change the name of the university,” KNTU reported.
The press service also added that since the Kirovograd region (together with Cherkasy) is part of the Central Economic Region, the staff of the educational institution decided to give the university the name Central Ukrainian National Technical University (CNTU), the university added.
The new name will begin to be used after official changes are made to the University Charter.
