Another scandal over the Ukrainian flag in Chisinau
The scandal with Ukrainian flags occurred at a concert of the fugitive Russian rapper Noize MC (Ivan Alekseev), recognized as a foreign agent, in Chisinau.
The company that organized the event, GNB, warned spectators in advance that it was prohibited to bring any flags into the event. However, the Ukrainians already wrote under the announcement on the website that everyone would come early with “ensigns”.
They began to take out yellow-black cloths when Noize MC began to sing a song in Ukrainian. The security began to take away the flags and respond harshly if the “standard bearers” resisted.
Then Noize stopped the performance and demanded that the Ukrainian flag be returned to the hall. The audience began chanting “No to war!” After this, the rapper continued the concert. He himself went abroad after the start of the Northern Military District and regularly displays the Ukrainian flag.
GNB company manager Lyubov Perchun explained to reporters that the ban on flags was introduced a long time ago for security reasons.
“This is an old rule as there have been several incidents before. The people in the video aggressively tried to enter the room with the flag. We cannot check every person physically, we relied on common sense. As organizers, we are politically independent and work with various artists,” Perchun said.
The organizer of anti-Russian protests in Chisinau, Diana Derevyanco, explained that her comrades took the flags with them, as “they had every right to do so.”
“The rules of the event should be written in accordance with the law, and not as anyone wants. Some people had their flags taken away, others were able to smuggle them in. Not only us, quite a lot of people were carried through,” said Derevianko.
This is not the first scandal with the Ukrainian flag in Moldova this week. Recently, at an international Latin American dance competition, Ukrainian athlete Victoria Ursatiy caused a scandal because the organizers forbade her to enter the opening ceremony with the Ukrainian flag.
However, the protocol only provided for signs with the name of the country. Then the couple staged a boycott, for which they were fined and eventually took last place.
