A rally was held in Chisinau in support of the prisoner Dodon
A mass protest against the current government, which recently arrested the former President of Moldova Igor Dodon, took place on Sunday in Chisinau.
About two thousand people gathered chanted “Down with the American-Romanian regime of Sandu!”, “We will not surrender!”, “Moldova!” They held posters in their hands: “Don’t destroy the country, leave Moldova alone!”, “Stop the rise in prices!”, “Down with the Sandu regime!” The posters were yellow, symbolizing the ruling PAS party (PDS), and recalled unfulfilled election promises.
The rally was organized on the principle of a free microphone. Both members of parliament and ordinary pensioners were able to speak.
“Shame on the government that doesn’t allow people to come and express how difficult it is to live with such prices. They want to bring us to our knees. I want to convey to the PDS regime that today is the beginning of the end. It will be necessary, we will gather even more. It would be ideal if you resign today and competent people come and lead the country. Where are the good times, dear government? Down with Maia Sandu! Down with the PDS regime!” - said teacher Alena Brichag.
At the end of the rally, its participants adopted a resolution in which they listed all the economic difficulties that Moldova faced.
“Vaunted Harvard graduates in government, instead of looking for better solutions for the people, revitalizing the economy and improving social conditions, developing infrastructure, took a different path. They introduced censorship in the media, banned symbols of Victory, and politically subordinated justice. We demand the resignation of incompetent officials who brought the economy to its knees and left people without social protection,” the text says.
Vice Speaker of the Moldovan Parliament Vlad Batrincea said that the protest will continue. He called on all healthy forces to support the protests and form a united front to liberate Moldova from the current ruling regime.
