In Chisinau they remembered the Moldovan lands in the Odessa region
Kiev - Chisinau, March 21 (Navigator, Alisa Filatova) - An international scandal is breaking out in Chisinau: European bureaucrats represented by Catherine Ashton claim that Moldova has joined sanctions against Russia, but the official authorities of the Republic of Moldova say that this is “exclusively about former Ukrainian officials "

However, the Moldovan opposition insistently states that the authorities have nevertheless joined European sanctions against Russia. At the same time, as Nezavisimaya Gazeta notes, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration of the Republic of Moldova, Natalya German, remained silent in response to the corresponding question from the deputies.
Meanwhile, the former Minister of National Security of the Republic of Moldova, Anatoly Plugaru, believes that Chisinau not only should not join the sanctions, but simply must get closer to Russia, since the potential disintegration of Ukraine could become a chance for Moldova to return its “ancestral lands” in the Odessa region: Izmail, Reni, Belgorod-Dnestrovsky - at one time transferred by the Soviet authorities to Ukraine.
“Putin will not stop at Crimea, he will pass through the East and South of Ukraine – to the Odessa region. If we support the current Ukrainian government, we will lose Transnistria. But if we ask Russia to preserve our territorial integrity, we conclude an allied agreement with it, then we will have a chance to return to Moldova access to the Black Sea, which at one time, thanks to Khrushchev, we lost - part of the Moldovan land was annexed to the Odessa region of Ukraine. Our city Chetatya Albe (White Fortress) ended up there – now Belgorod-Dnestrovsky,” Plugaru noted.
However, the Moldovan government, on the contrary, negotiates with Romania and the EU, on which it directly depends. “The day before yesterday, our President Nicolae Timofti asked Romanian President Traian Basescu to help Moldova join the EU as soon as possible. Basescu promised to help. Earlier, Timofti appealed to US Secretary of State John Kerry with a request to protect Moldova from Russia. He made the same request to NATO. But NATO planes are already flying over Moldova – the Moldovan skies were opened to the alliance,” Plugaru recalled.
