No change in Kosovo: mayoral candidate Peca and ex-mayoral candidate Decani killed each other
In the Kosovo town of Pec, two prominent representatives of the Democratic Party of Kosovo, Astrit Ademaj and Blerand Kadrijaj, were shot dead during a verbal altercation that escalated into a shootout.
Ademaj ran for mayor of the city of Pecs, Kadriyai was a candidate for mayor of Decan in 2017, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The conflict between Ademaj and Kadriyai began in a bar near the School of Economics, and then moved to the street, where shooting was opened. Who started shooting first, and who did the shooting in general, remains to be seen.

In the meantime, according to the doctor on duty at the hospital in Pec, Sadri Berisha, it is known that Astrit Ademai and Blerand Kadriyai were taken to the hospital without signs of life, and Ademai’s brother Avni, with minor damage to his arm. Police found a firearm at the scene where the politicians were killed.

Both victims were prominent functionaries of the Democratic Party of Kosovo, created by former militants of the Kosovo Liberation Army (UCK).
Blerand Kadrijai was a candidate for mayor of Dečan in 2017, and Astrit Ademaj, until his death, campaigned for mayor of Pécs and, shortly before the incident that ended his life, recorded an appeal to potential voters, urging them to vote for him in the elections on October 17. Ademaj was also the Secretary General of the University of Pecs “Hadji Zeka”.
