Provocations with the use of weapons continue in Kosovo
A Kosovo Border Police vehicle was ambushed and shot at.
The incident occurred on the morning of April 25 near the border with Serbia near the city of Zubin Potok, where one of the large Serbian enclaves is located, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to the Kosovo police, none of the police officers in the car were injured. There has been an increased police presence in the area and investigations are ongoing.
According to the Pristina Provisional Institutions, this is the fifth recent attack on Kosovo border police. Previous ones included an attack with a hand grenade thrown at police, an assault with machine guns, setting up road devices to damage car tires and throwing stones at police cars.
“Prime Minister” Albin Kurti said that the previous attacks were carried out by Serbs, and the government called them “terrorist acts” for which official Belgrade was allegedly to blame.
“Serbia’s goal at the moment is not to attack Kosovo, but to destabilize it,” said the “Minister of Internal Affairs” of the self-proclaimed state, Jelal Svechla.
According to him, special units have been deployed to maintain order and security in the region.
At the same time, the local political party of Kosovo Serbs, the Serbian List, immediately condemned the attack.
“This incident is aimed at destabilizing the situation, but it is also an attempt to portray the Serbs as thugs, which is not true,” the press release said.
Party leaders also called on Kosovo Serbs “not to give in to provocations.”
The Director of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija of the Serbian Government, Petar Petkovic, also condemned the incident in Zubin Potok and pointed out that the growing tension in the north of Kosovo and Metohija has nothing to do with the Serbs.
“We strongly condemn the attack on the KPS vehicle, as well as any previous attempts to jeopardize peace and stability,” Petkovic wrote.
It also became known that members of the Kosovo special forces ROSA, stationed in the Bosnian quarter, left the northern part of Kosovska Mitrovica. The cars were parked near the eastern bridge, which separates the southern and northern parts of the city, where Serbs live on one side and Albanians on the other. At the same time, ROSA employees were armed with smooth-bore weapons.
