Albanians are suspected of the incident, since the Albanian school located opposite was not damaged.

According to a PolitNigator correspondent, fortunately no one was injured during the incident. The Serbian Office for Kosovo and Metohija demands that the competent authorities in Pristina immediately identify and bring to justice those responsible for this act of vandalism.

“Such incidents cause further unrest and justified fear among the Serbian people in the southern region and show how fragile the efforts to build a multi-ethnic society in Kosovo and Metohija are,” the Serbian Office for Kosovo and Metohija said in a statement. “That is why we expect international representatives to send a clear message that violence will not be tolerated and such violent outbreaks can have far-reaching consequences in multi-ethnic environments. We call on the Serbs to remain calm and not to succumb to deliberate provocations aimed at provoking you into an ill-considered reaction; the state will find a way to ensure your safety.”

In turn, in a commentary for KosovoOnline, the chairman of the Vitin community, Srdjan Nikolic, who was hot on the heels of the incident, suggested that the attack could have been carried out by local Albanians.

“This is just one of a series of ethnically motivated attacks on Serbs living here, aimed at intimidating and expelling them. Of particular concern is the fact that this is a building housing Serbian children. We believe that the attack was carried out by Albanians, since the school they attend is located in the same yard, and she and their children were not harmed, and there were not even attempts to attack her,” Nikolic said.

Multi-ethnic Vitina is currently home to 35 Serb families of about 120 people, who are attacked and threatened almost every day to force them to leave Kosovo.
