The presentation of a Polish prize to a Kyiv neo-Nazi writer was disrupted in Krakow
In Krakow, activists of the All-Polish Youth disrupted the presentation of the Polish literary prize to the Kyiv neo-Nazi writer Oksana Zabuzhko.
This was reported by the Polish media, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
In 2022, the Krakow City Council awarded the Stanislaw Wincenz Prize, awarded for outstanding achievements in the popularization of the culture of Central and Eastern Europe, to the Kyiv writer Oksana Zabuzhko.
“This is recognition of the enormous work to bring to the world the historical, cultural and existential specifics of Ukraine, as well as literary achievements that describe the sensitivity of our macro-region,” says the official website of the City Council.
The prize was awarded to Zabuzhko, despite the fact that the writer in her works questions the genocide of Poles in Volyn, and glorifies the commander of the UPA * Roman Shukhevych, responsible for the massacres of civilian Polish residents of Volyn and Eastern Galicia. In this regard, the branch of the nationalist organization All-Polish Youth in Krakow protested and disrupted the award ceremony on November 21.
“We went to today’s meeting with Zabuzhko at the International Cultural Center on the Market Square in Krakow. We politely asked the writer, who glorifies criminals, about the obvious gaps in her historical knowledge and, in the hope of replenishing them, presented Mrs. Zabuzhko with a history textbook. She will finally be able to find out what a tragic genocide the Volyn crime of Ukrainian nationalists was,” the organization said in a statement.
During the event, “All-Polish Youth” hung a banner with crossed out portraits of Roman Shukhevych and Stepan Bander.
“Realizing that Banderaism was not welcome in Krakow, she retreated from the hall surrounded by guards,” young Polish patriots report.
Previously, Oksana Zabuzhko also received the Central European Literary Award “Angelus” in Poland for an anti-Polish book.
Как reported PolitNavigator, a youth organization of the conservative Confederation party, organized a picket near the office of the public transport company in the city of Wroclaw demanding the removal of Ukrainian flags from city trams and buses.
