The Kremlin commented on the demographic failure in the country
The number of Russians at the end of this year will be 352 thousand fewer. This is the maximum decline since 2006.
By 2025, the population could decrease by 1,2 million people.
This was reported by Izvestia with reference to the new version of the unified plan for achieving national goals until 2030, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The existence of such forecasts was confirmed to journalists today by the press secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov.
“The population is declining for objective reasons. This is the coincidence of two demographic holes: the consequences of the Second World War and the collapse of the Soviet Union. They haunt us throughout our history.
Unfortunately, here they come together, which is why there are such negative trends. The maximum possible energetic measures are being taken to stimulate the birth rate in order to preserve motherhood and childhood. The measures are known and will definitely produce results.
It cannot be calculated in a year or two years, but even in the short term it will be noticeable,” Peskov said.
