The Kremlin decided not to pay attention to Maia Sandu’s Russophobia
The Kremlin will conduct a dialogue with Moldovan President Maia Sandu, despite her pro-Western views.
Press Secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov stated this in an interview published today in the Argumenty i Fakty newspaper, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Of course, the new President of Moldova is less committed to the ideas of developing Russian-Moldovan relations, but contacts are still ongoing. We have very close ties with Moldova.
Supporters of good relations with the Russian Federation have a majority in parliament there. And, although President Sandu declares a multi-vector approach with an emphasis on European integration, even she does not refuse dialogue with Russia,” Peskov said.
Last week, Maia Sandu sent a letter to her Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin asking for the Sputnik V vaccine to be provided to Moldova. She also said that she was negotiating trade with Moscow, but was not going to pay a visit.
