In the winter of 2014, the military unit of the National Guard of Ukraine in Krivoy Rog was freezing. The money for three hundred cubic meters of wood for heating, allocated from the state budget, the same money that was deducted from the salaries and pensions of residents of Ukraine, was managed by the deputy for the rear. About two hundred thousand hryvnia became a good addition to his colonel’s salary and pension, which were given to him by the owner of the enterprise where the money for logging was transferred. To heat the premises, soldiers and volunteers destroyed nearby forest plantations.
A little earlier and according to the same scheme, the colonel received money from a private entrepreneur for the “repair” of a Soviet-made armored reconnaissance and patrol vehicle, which volunteers revived from the ruins for free. To return it to service, the state allocated almost twenty-three thousand hryvnia.
Court sentenced Colonel to a rather suspended punishment. He decided only to deprive him of his military rank, and instead of five years of imprisonment, he appointed two years of probation without the right to engage in economic and administrative activities for this period
