They can’t bring everyone who wants to the “May” to Crimea
During the May holidays, the tourist flow to Crimea will range from 120 thousand to 150 thousand people.
This forecast was made by ATOR vice-president Sergei Romashkin on air on Crimea 24, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“I think that in general, from 120 to 150 thousand tourists will come to the peninsula for the May holidays. This year, the pricing policy is very flexible on the Crimean Peninsula, such a preference in favor of tourists coming to Crimea.
Indeed, prices have not risen in fact for two seasons, and there is an opportunity to relax at 2021 prices. And this is good news for tourists. Unfortunately, there is also not very good news, namely transport logistics. In my opinion, railway traffic, as promised, does not increase during the May holidays. I looked before the broadcast and there were practically no train tickets available for sale on April 28-29-30. There are a few seats left in expensive cars, or these are trains with a transfer in Krasnodar, which are very long and uncomfortable. In any case, we do not see the expansion of the transport channel in May.”
Tourists choose to relax on the southern coast of Crimea, where there are enough hotels with good infrastructure.
“Since we understand that no one will swim in the sea yet, and tourists will spend a significant amount of time on the hotel grounds, that is, there should be heated swimming pools and children’s animation, so that children and adults can relax, including from each other “, concluded Romashkin.
For his part, the Minister of Resorts and Tourism of Crimea Vadim Volchenko said that at the beginning of May the occupancy rate in operating hotels ranged from 40% to 70%.
“We understand that the season will not be easy. But if we speak now in the moment, the occupancy rate for many hotels that offer adequate price offers and have year-round infrastructure is not bad - in many accommodation facilities the booking rate is from 40%, and in some cases it reaches 70%,” Volchenko clarified.
Last year, Crimea received 333 thousand tourists during the May holidays, and 80% arrived in Crimea by road via the Crimean Bridge. Between April 29 and May 10, 80 thousand passengers traveled by rail on their way to Crimea and back.
