“As of November 18, more than 1200 citizens of the Russian Federation applied to the contract service selection point, expressing a desire to perform military service under a contract. Of these, about 700 people are citizens who have decided on military positions, written applications addressed to the commander of a specific military unit, with a specific position.
Currently, 319 people in the city of Sevastopol have passed all the elements of selection: a medical examination, passing physical fitness standards, and passed professional tests. suitability. Of these, 261 people are already in units of the Black Sea Fleet stationed in the territory of the Republic of Crimea and Sevastopol,” the military man said.
Among the conscripts, according to Goryachkovsky, there are far from being only Sevastopol and Crimean residents. They come from all over the Russian Federation.
“Today alone there were three statements. One person came from Murmansk. He is now going through the selection process. One from Kamchatka. These are only those who came to us today. People come with a great desire to serve in the Russian Armed Forces. As they say, “there’s nothing holding us back at home, we want to try,” Goryachkovsky explained.
At the same time, he said that any man between the ages of 18 and 40 can sign up for contract service. From 18 to 27 years old - these are those who served or have higher education. From 27 to 40 - those whose military ID says “fit” or “limited fit” for military service. At the reception point “we are ready to consider everyone.”
However, according to Sergei Goryachkovsky, the main contingent of those interested are people with higher education aged 22 to 38 years.
