At the Crimean traffic police, queues for documents stretched for weeks (PHOTO)
Simferopol, September 23 (PolitNavigator, Kirill Boyarin) – No sooner had the situation with crowded queues for obtaining Russian passports been resolved in Crimea than the residents of the republic were faced with new problems.

This time, Crimean drivers are out of luck - in order to avoid becoming pedestrians from January 1, 2015, they need to re-register their vehicles and driving documents according to Russian rules. In this case, there is a “simplified procedure”, according to which all manipulations are carried out free of charge.
However, in recent months, the number of people wishing to obtain Russian license plates and licenses has simply gone through the roof – this, according to drivers, takes up to two weeks.
“First you need to stand in line for a medical examination to get a certificate. This takes two to three days. Then - to the traffic police, it takes three days to get license plates and about a week to re-register the license,” complains Crimean resident Andrey Olkhovik.
According to drivers, the daily roll call, which takes place at 17-00, after the Crimean State Traffic Safety Inspectorate ends the working day, also causes inconvenience.
“They check the lists, someone has already passed and is crossed off, someone’s queue has moved up. At the same time, if you did not have time for roll call, then they are crossed off the list. Nobody cares that you are working or that you may simply not be on time,” the driver complains.
At the same time, the Crimean traffic police report that as of early September, “about 100 thousand vehicles have already been re-registered on the peninsula, and about 80 thousand driver’s licenses have been issued.”
The naked eye can see that in Simferopol, for example, only up to 50% of car owners have already reissued license plates. At the same time, there are just over three months left until the end of the year. Obviously, before this time, everyone who wants to do so will not have time to re-issue their documents and license plates. The republic's traffic police have not yet commented on whether the “simplified system” will be extended in this case.
