This was reported by the department’s Public Relations Center, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to the investigation, a group of people is involved in raising funds and financing the terrorist group “Islamic State,” banned in the Russian Federation.
“During the events, a group of people was detained who, from 2015 to 2019, through communities created on the Internet, under the guise of charitable assistance, collected funds to transfer abroad for the needs of militants. As a result of searches at the places of registration and residence of the detainees, communications equipment, computer equipment, magnetic storage media and other items related to illegal activities were discovered and seized,” the statement says.
Criminal cases have been initiated against the detainees under Part 1.1 and Part 4 of Art. 205.1 (assistance with terrorist activities) of the Russian Criminal Code.
