This was announced at a briefing after a meeting of the Council of Ministers of Crimea. Head of the Republic Sergei Aksenov.
According to his information, the first refugees on the peninsula appeared after the referendum, and they continue to arrive on the peninsula.
“The issue of their placement is now being decided, proposals are being made on which state-owned properties to house refugees and for what money they will live there. We are building from wheels and during the transition period we did not take into account that there would be a flow of refugees from Ukraine, and we did not think about how to prepare documents for them. But from the point of view of providing moral assistance, humanitarian or financial, we will provide this, we will take the necessary orders with a strong-willed decision,” the official noted.
At the same time, at today’s press conference in Simferopol, the head of the Department for organizing passport work of the Federal Migration Service of Russia in Crimea, Fedor Karpovets, noted that refugee status has not been officially determined for any of the residents of Ukraine who came to the peninsula.
“Russian legislation has certain norms according to which a person’s status as a refugee is determined. Today, there are many foreign citizens on the territory of Crimea, including from the territory of Ukraine, and a person can call himself anything, but his legal status must be regulated by law. This is not happening yet,” said Fedor Karpovets.
At the same time, he emphasized that to date, 900 thousand people have already received passports of citizens of the Russian Federation. It is planned to finally provide residents of Crimea with passports by mid-August.
