In Crimea, a verdict was passed against the “black” digger of the mass grave of victims of fascist terror at 10 km of the Simferopol-Feodosia highway.

For damaging military graves and monuments perpetuating the memory of those who died defending the Fatherland during the Great Patriotic War, the culprit was sentenced to 2 years and 7 months in a colony-settlement, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

The anti-tank ditch became a mass grave for 26 thousand people. 20 thousand Jews, Crimeans and Gypsies and 6 thousand prisoners of war were shot here. Despite the fact that the Nazis rounded up people to be shot in their underwear, the diggers do not give up trying to make money from the victims of terror - they find coins, gold crowns, and rare jewelry.

The 44-year-old vandal from the village of Gvardeiskoye obtained three pre-war coins. They were found during a search that the FSB department and Sledkom employees conducted following publications in the media about the latest looting of a mass grave.

The suspect did not deny it and admitted his guilt.

The 10 km long execution ditch has not attracted vandals for decades. In Russian jurisdiction, 10 criminal cases were opened against the diggers and 4 trials were held. The most revealing of the family duet is that father and son were caught three times with crowbars and pickaxes while looting a mass grave, but they never publicly admitted their guilt or apologized. It is planned to erect a sarcophagus over the mass grave as part of the construction of a large memorial complex to the victims of Nazi terror. The head of Crimea, Sergei Aksenov, announced such plans back in 2016. For the sake of the future memorial, the builders of the Tavrida highway moved it to the side. The timing of its construction is unknown.
