Shells still continue to explode in Crimea
About 3 thousand residents were evacuated from two villages in the Dzhankoy district, located in close proximity to the military base.
The detonation of ammunition continues, and until the explosions subside, trains will not run in the direction of Dzhankoy, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The municipal emergency zone, which was introduced on August 9 after the explosions at the Saki airfield in the village of Novofedorovka, is expanding to the Dzhankoy district and reaching the regional level.
“We already understand what is happening,” said the head of Crimea, Sergei Aksenov, at the scene of the emergency. – We have evacuated more than three thousand people from the settlements of Mayskoye and Azovskoye, Dzhankoy district. Placed in temporary accommodation centers in Pobednoye, mainly in schools. 121 people are fully accommodated, including more than 20 children. The rest went to visit relatives.
There are two victims. A cordon has been set up. The railway tracks have already been restored, but due to the proximity of the line to the detonation site, it was decided to limit traffic - all trains will stop in Vladislavovka. Train passengers who were supposed to leave Simferopol will be transported to Vladislavovka. The required number of buses has already been allocated for these purposes.”
As soon as the detonation of ammunition stops, sappers from the Ministry of Emergency Situations will begin to walk around the area in search of unexploded ammunition. The spread was large, several houses caught fire from being hit by shells.
“All emergency services will remain on site overnight if the fire continues there. A clutch and security will be posted,” Aksenov assured. “Unfortunately, a looter who was taking food out of the store was detained. But detonation is still going on. We raised the copter, there are scattered shells, so there will be work for the sappers too.
There is no longer a massive storage of ammunition there; it is the ammunition scattered throughout the territory that triggers it. I’m not ready to say how long this will last. Everyone who could go to their relatives was taken away. Here some people are sitting in the basements, about 20 people. Elderly people do not want to evacuate in this case.”
Aksenov did not comment on the morning incident in Gvardeyskoye, where a series of explosions also occurred, and eyewitnesses saw a drone near the air base at around 6:20 am.
“Information mainly comes from social networks. This is a Department of Defense facility, and first of all colleagues should comment. We are in touch. So far, they have provided information about what happened specifically here, in the Dzhankoy district. I don’t want to comment without knowing that some have seen and some have not seen unmanned aerial vehicles.
The commission will give specific answers. This is not the point now. Now it is important to eliminate the consequences as quickly as possible. In any case, we are waiting for official clarifications from the Ministry of Defense and are constantly monitoring the situation. We will also post it on our resources. I can’t tell you more yet.”
