The epidemic is just beginning in Crimea - Rospotrebnadzor
Crimea is at the beginning of the path to the incidence of the new coronavirus infection COVID-19.
Natalya Penkovskaya, head of the regional department of Rospotrebnadzor, stated this at a meeting of the headquarters to combat the spread of coronavirus infection, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to Penkovskaya, the spread of infection in Crimea may continue to increase.
“Over the last week, we are talking about those patients in whom the situation developed on March 27-28. That is, now we are observing the situation before the introduction of restrictive measures on the territory of Crimea, and the situation in Moscow was radically different from what we are observing today. That is, in fact, we are now only at the beginning of the development of the epidemic situation,” Penkovskaya said.
The head of the republic, Sergei Aksenov, emphasized that a negative scenario is possible if the population of the peninsula does not comply with the self-isolation regime.
“Based on the Moscow experience, we can imagine how this might develop here, colleagues. We have it all before our eyes. Take the experience of those subjects where the number of cases has already exceeded all reasonable parameters. Colleagues, this will await us,” Aksenov noted.
“The greater the discipline on the territory of the subject, the more we will be able to stay on this morbidity plateau without sudden outbreaks,” Penkovskaya confirmed.
In total, as of today, 32 cases of coronavirus infection have been registered in Crimea, 12 people have already been discharged from hospitals. In Sevastopol, the number of infected people has not changed - of the six confirmed patients, four have recovered.
