This was stated by ex-deputy head of the Mejlis, Chairman of the State Committee for Nationalities and Deported Peoples Zaur Smirnov during the video conference “Crimea under the gun: the truth about punitive national battalions” at the Moscow International Media Center MIA “Russia Today”.
“We have a lot of inside information, these people, of course, want to return. And we only guarantee that through our common efforts and the efforts of law enforcement officers, we are ready to provide such conditions for their return. In the event that these people’s hands are clean, of course, legislation that meets halfway in these situations will be applied to the maximum extent possible. I am absolutely convinced that today we will be heard by the Crimean Tatars in Kyiv, who are mercilessly, I’m not afraid of this word, exploited against their own people. And I want, addressing him, to say - come back, today we are here ready to create maximum conditions for you to continue to live and work in your homeland, where your relatives, friends, homes and families are,” he said.
