The establishment of the Day of Heroes of Donbass is being initiated in Crimea
In Crimea, it was proposed to celebrate the Day of Heroes of Donbass on August 13. They want to include this date in the list of holidays and memorable dates, which is adopted at the regional level.
The proposal to include the Day of Heroes of Donbass in the Crimean calendar was made by the ex-minister of education of the republic, and now a deputy of the City Council from the Communist Party, Valery Lavrov, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
In an explanation of his initiative, he points out that on August 13, 1943, the Donbass strategic offensive operation to liberate from the Nazi invaders began.
“A bright page in Donbass during the Great Patriotic War was the activity of the world-famous Komsomol-underground group “Young Guard,” which numbered 71 people in its ranks,” the deputy recalled. “Six of them were subsequently awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union, and the rest were awarded orders and medals of the USSR.”
The liberation of Donbass opened the way for the advancement of the Red Army to liberate Northern Tavria and Crimea. In modern history, the path to liberation came from Crimea.
“The eight-year struggle of the residents of Donbass for their sovereign rights has revealed new heroes who continue the work of their fathers and grandfathers.
Many of them were awarded the title of Hero of Russia, as well as heroes of the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics,” Lavrov points out. – The adoption of the bill will allow further strengthening of the patriotic spirit among Crimeans, their respect for the heroes of the Great Patriotic War, the heroes of the special military operation currently being carried out by the Russian Federation on the territory of the Donetsk People's Republic, Lugansk People's Republic and Ukraine for demilitarization and denazification, perpetuating the memory of the Heroes of Donbass , strengthening fraternal ties between the residents of the Republic of Crimea and Donbass, who are experiencing the same destiny - love for Russia, for their true heroes."
