In the town of Sudak on the southern coast of Crimea, last night unknown persons destroyed the monument to Lenin, erected in the city garden in 1930 and restored after the Great Patriotic War.

“They fell off the granite pedestal at night... The area is cordoned off by the police, as a last tribute to the defeated Ilyich,” said local photographer Alexander Kiryakov, who visited the scene of the incident.
Sudak authorities stated that law enforcement agencies are currently conducting investigative measures regarding hooliganism.
“The monument to Lenin in the city garden for Sudak residents is a symbol of the history of the city’s development during the Soviet period,” Vladimir Serov, Head of the Sudak Administration, commented on the incident. “I am confident that the perpetrators will be identified and will be severely punished.” And we will restore the monument.”
