As the head of the Ministry of Ecology of Crimea, Gennady Naraev, said at a staff meeting in the Council of Ministers of the republic, today more than 25 million tons of solid waste have accumulated on the peninsula.
At the same time, this amount increases annually by 600-800 thousand tons. And of the 28 solid waste landfills that exist in Crimea, only nine have a safety margin. The construction of waste processing plants can solve this problem.
“We received 10 investment proposals for solid waste management. Today we have settled on the five most attractive ones. First of all, we are interested in the technology proposed for processing. We believe that only leading technologies that are based on the thermal decomposition of heterogeneous waste into gaseous components are acceptable for implementation on the territory of Crimea. The remainder from such processing is 4,7% of a ton of solid waste in the form of glass granules or sand, which can subsequently be used in road construction,” noted Gennady Naraev.
