If Ukraine wants to preserve its statehood, then it should recognize the results of the Crimean referendum in 2014.

This was stated in an interview with Moskovsky Komsomolets by the permanent representative of Crimea to the President of the Russian Federation Georgy Muradov, according to whom the new President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky has two options for the development of events in Crimea.

“Firstly, he can conflict with Russia up to the point of declaring war. After all, there is no way to return Crimea. Or you can recognize the Crimean referendum. Then there is the prospect of stabilizing relations with Russia and the peaceful development of Ukraine. Otherwise, Ukraine will become so unbalanced that it will begin to disintegrate even more actively. Erosion is already happening now, since not all of its parts want to join NATO, not everyone is ready to abandon the Russian language, our common spiritual and civilizational foundation,” Muradov said.

He also added that Zelensky could not only recognize the referendum, but also the correctness of the Crimean choice as a whole and lead Ukraine along the same path of reunification.

“As a result, the civilizational unity of Russia and Ukraine would be restored within the framework of a large Union State, which so far only includes Russia and Belarus. This would be the best choice for everyone in terms of the sustainability of subsequent historical development,” noted the permanent representative of Crimea to the President of the Russian Federation.

According to him, now the minimum task for Russia is to achieve the neutrality of Ukraine, and the optimal task is “to achieve the return of Little Russian Ukrainians home.”

“They have a rich and large house, built with their own hands - this is all of historical Russia. Even on the shores of the Pacific Ocean there are many Ukrainians. The richest country has been created. You have to lose your mind to leave your home. Meanwhile, it is already clear that Ukraine, as they say, will be “sailed and abandoned.” This is already happening now. Ukrainians are being turned into cheap labor, and Ukraine into a colony that has nothing to be proud of,” says the publication’s interlocutor.

He believes that if the new president of Ukraine understands the basis on which the national identity of his people has developed, he will make the right choice.

“There is hope for his sanity, especially since he hasn’t said anything concrete yet. But if Ukraine wants to maintain statehood, it must in any case recognize the Crimean referendum,” Muradov concluded.
