Chairman of the Republican Committee of the Republic of Crimea for Water Construction and Irrigated Agriculture Igor Weil announced this at a press conference in Simferopol.
According to him, today the peninsula’s reservoirs are fully supplied with water.
“Today we have about 156 million cubic meters of water reserves in natural flow reservoirs. This is seven million cubic meters more than the same period last year,” the official noted.
At the same time, he emphasized that thanks to emergency measures to transfer water from the Biyuk-Karasu river bed through the North Crimean Canal, it was possible to partially fill the Feodosia Reservoir: “Now there are about two million cubic meters of water there. To fill it 100%, we need to get about four million more.”
In addition, according to the chairman of the Reskom, today the issue of building 19 reservoirs is being studied, which will provide the peninsula with its own water without the North Crimean Canal.
“To what extent this idea will be implemented, at least in the project, is now difficult to say, because this is a huge and serious work, it is connected with filling these reservoirs from underground sources,” explained Igor Vail.
