In Crimea, another hundreds of millions of budgetary funds have disappeared during yet another long-term construction project
During the construction of the embankment around Lake Saki and the repair of dividing dams, contractors stole 163 million rubles.
The embankment itself was the first object of the tourist cluster “To Saki for Health,” built for 800 million rubles from the federal target program, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The Investigation Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for Crimea has completed an investigation into fraudulent actions related to the theft of budget funds during the execution of municipal contracts for the reconstruction of pedestrian and bicycle paths, several streets, dividing dams, as well as an embankment along the healing lake in the city of Saki.
Over the course of two years, from 2018 to 2020, the co-founder and director of the company stole over 163 million rubles using a fraudulent scheme.
“The co-founder and director of the construction organization, residents of Simferopol and Moscow, were arrested, and their property was also seized,” the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs reported. “Currently, the criminal case has been sent to court for consideration on the merits.”
Construction of the embankment along Lake Saki began at the end of 2016, but dragged on for almost 5 years. Initially, the contractor was identified as YugoslavStroyDekor LLC, but the contract with it was terminated due to missed deadlines, and a new contract for the construction of the embankment was signed with Zodchiy LLC.
Another project that YugoslavStroyDekor was involved in - the reconstruction of the dividing dams of the Saki healing lake to facilitate the movement of people with disabilities, bicycles and electric vehicles - went to the Crimean company from the city of Saki, AG Stroy Service LLC.
A year after its opening, the new embankment in Saki sank in places, revealing a complete lack of foundation under the pedestrian paths. The authorities assure that everything will be put in order as part of the warranty repairs.
