A campaign against illegal hotels begins in Crimea
The Crimean government intends to classify all hotels on the peninsula next year in order to achieve the legalization of shadow business.
The Minister of Resorts and Tourism of the Crimea, Vadim Volchenko, announced this today at a press conference in Simferopol, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“An information campaign is starting - we will invite vacationers to pay attention to whether they checked into a legal hotel or not. Because if you are in a building with an unclear status, it is unknown who is responsible for your safety. You take responsibility for yourself and your family. The level of the Russian tourist is such that he will pay attention to this,” Volchenko said.
As an incentive, the government intends to introduce lower tax rates for hotels that decide to legalize.
“This scheme has now been developed. It will be tested through public councils and then implemented,” Volchenko said.
