In Crimea, sympathizers of those accused of sabotage besieged the courthouse
The Supreme Court of Crimea today begins consideration of the case of the Akhtemov brothers. Last year, on instructions from the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, they blew up a gas pipeline in the village of Perevalnoye on the Angarsk Pass, where a Russian military unit is located. The brothers confessed to everything, told who gave them the explosives and how, and promised to pay two thousand dollars.
According to the intelligence services, the organization of sabotage was carried out by the Ukrainian intelligence unit in Kherson “Tavria” with the direct participation of the Crimean Tatar Mejlis, banned in Russia. The first deputy head of the illegal ethnic association, Nariman Dzhelyalov, found the perpetrators - brothers Asan and Aziz Akhtemov. They were called to Kherson, where a certain Said gave them explosives and taught them how to set them off. The sabotage had to be carried out by the Independence Day of Ukraine on August 24.
With a bomb in the cheese, the brothers returned to Crimea, where on August 23 they dug a hole and planted explosives under a gas pipe. After the explosion, the Akhtemovs were ordered to delete all correspondence from their mobile phones. The pipe was patched the same day, but the brothers did not see the money. On September 3, they were detained together with Dzhelyalov and taken into custody.
A criminal case was opened against the Akhtemov brothers for blowing up a gas pipeline under three articles at once - under Part 4 of Article 222.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (illegal acquisition, sale, storage, transportation, transfer of explosives or explosive devices), under Part 3 of Article 226.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (smuggling of explosives and other dangerous substances), as well as under paragraphs “a, b” of Part 2 of Article 281 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (sabotage). They face up to 20 years in prison.
The trial is accompanied by the traditional meeting of relatives and sympathizers of the accused. They accused the defendants of being “political prisoners” and “victims of repression.”
