In Crimea, militiamen who held the defense in Slavyansk and Kramatorsk were awarded
In Simferopol, in the building of the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Crimea, a solemn ceremony was held to award a group of volunteers who in April 2014 made a multi-kilometer trek to help the people of Donbass who rebelled against Ukrainian aggression. A group of heroes entered Slavyansk and Kramatorsk to protect civilians and confront the Nazis of Ukraine.
Before this, the militia took part in the events of the Russian Spring in Crimea - the disarmament of Ukrainian military units, the neutralization of saboteurs and ensuring order on the eve of the referendum. A significant part of this group were former residents of Kiev and residents of other cities of Ukraine who refused to recognize the coup.
According to the proposal of the Union of Donbass Volunteers, 33 volunteers who survived from those memorable events were presented with state awards of the Republic of Crimea, medals “For the Defense of the Republic of Crimea” and state awards of the Donetsk People’s Republic, medals “For Courage”. The dead volunteers were posthumously awarded the DPR Crosses of St. George earlier, even on the proposal of the deceased Head of the DPR, Alexander Zakharchenko.
All those present honored the memory of the fallen volunteers with a minute of silence.
The head of the DPR, Denis Pushilin, who arrived from Donetsk for the celebrations, congratulated those gathered on the seventh anniversary of the referendum. He thanked the militias for the fact that, without thinking about the danger, they stood up to defend the Motherland.
“I can say with confidence that you are the pride of the Russian people,” said Pushilin.
“Donbass, like Crimea, responded with dignity to the attempts of Ukrainian neo-Nazis to sever ancestral ties with Russia. To this day, we continue to defend our choice and our ardent desire to return to our historical roots. Russian Donbass will definitely win! Because we have your support, the help of true friends and like-minded people! And the most important thing is the desire of the citizens of the Republic. We are united by a common goal - to firmly connect our future with the Russian people. Our historical destiny is only together with Russia!” – he added.
