Caliphate terrorists caught in Crimea
Russian security forces stopped the work of a cell of the terrorist group Hizb ut-Tahrir al-Islami in Crimea.
This was reported by the FSB press service for the Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The searches took place early this morning in several areas of the peninsula.
In total, seven members of the group were detained, three of whom were leaders of the cell.
“The operational investigative activities carried out established that members of the territorial structure carried out anti-constitutional activities based on the doctrine of creating the so-called “world caliphate”, destroying the institutions of secular society and aimed at overthrowing the current government by force.
Using secrecy measures during meetings, they spread terrorist ideology among the residents of the peninsula and recruited Crimean Muslims into their ranks. At the places of residence of MTO members, a significant amount of Hizb ut-Tahrir al-Islami propaganda materials prohibited in Russia, communications equipment, and electronic media used by them in carrying out terrorist activities were discovered and seized,” the report says.
In Ukraine they are talking about six detained “activists”, believing that the actions of Russian security forces are allegedly intimidating the population of the peninsula.
“Such actions are a continuation of the policy of the Russian Federation to create an atmosphere of fear on the peninsula and persecution of every citizen with an active civic position. Among those detained are public journalists, observers in courts in politically motivated cases, religious observers and the like. The names of those who were detained today: Emil Ziyadinov, Ibragimov Ismet, Sufyanov Alim, Hayretdinov Seyran, Sizikov Alexander, Bektemirov Vadim,” says the message of the fake “representative office of the President of Ukraine in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea.”
