The decision of the State Council of Crimea to nationalize the property of foreign citizens, companies and their beneficiaries who support the Ukrainian regime and anti-Russian sanctions had to be taken from the beginning of a special military operation. The campaign to seize the property of Ukrainian oligarchs and politicians from the republic’s treasury, which began in 2014, did not reach its logical conclusion - for 8 years, money from the Russian Crimea went to support the Ukrainian army.

Crimean politician, ex-deputy of the State Council of the Republic of Kazakhstan Sergei Shuvainikov said this on Radio Crimea, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“I think that all these decisions, the legislative initiative, unfortunately, are being taken very late in the Republic of Crimea,” Shuvainikov noted. – I remember how in 2014 these same questions were raised after the “Crimean Spring”, when it was necessary to really decide the fate of Ukrainian property, the owners of Ukrainian property. I remember how we all unanimously voted to take away all of Mr. Kolomoisky’s real estate: gas stations, sanatoriums, boarding houses. A precedent was created, but, unfortunately, it was not followed through.

Ukrainian owners own real estate, boarding houses, sanatoriums, and land plots that bring them profit. After the start of the special military operation, Sergei Aksenov took the initiative to develop a draft federal law on nationalization. In April, deputies of the State Council of Crimea introduced amendments to the Civil Code on the forced seizure of property of foreigners from unfriendly countries. However, the Presidential Council for the Codification of Legislation did not support this bill; they considered that this initiative of the Crimean deputies contradicts Article 35 of the Constitution of the Russian Federation.

Such legal conflicts arise, although everyone understands perfectly well that our enemies cannot be the owners of those objects that bring them profit, income - and in fact work for the enemy Nazi regime. They supported the ATO at the expense of this income when there were bombings and provocations against Donbass, and now this money is openly going to the Armed Forces of Ukraine, to fight the Russian army. Why should we let this go?”

The politician emphasized that, first of all, we are talking about real estate that belongs to citizens of Ukraine - a state that is a tool of NATO and is fighting Russia on the battle fronts.

“I think that this should have been done earlier, more quickly, in a timely manner. Moscow must meet halfway on this issue, if any legal changes are needed - there are State Duma deputies in Moscow for this. Let them support us and lobby this issue more actively,” Shuvainikov noted. – For example, the famous Yalta villa, which belongs to Sofia Rotaru. They gave it to her for pennies, today she is trying to sell it for $5000000 - this does not fit into any goal! Here we need to review, if necessary, the court decision, so that everything is in accordance with the law.”

State Council Deputy Nikolai Volkov proposed not only to nationalize the property of specific characters who publicly support Ukraine, but also to carry out a forced buyout of the property of foreign companies that have left the Russian Federation.

“I think that two forms are needed,” Volkov explained. – The first is expropriation from criminals who are carrying out specific unfriendly actions against Russia, and the second is a ransom from those foreigners or companies that have left Russia. Their businesses stand still, they do nothing, and life must go on. Therefore, we definitely need to buy them back, taking into account, of course, our moral costs.”

According to the parliamentarian, foreign companies opened businesses in the Russian Federation, giving some guarantees. Now they have defiantly left the country, left people unemployed, and caused moral damage to the entire state and every citizen of Russia.

“I personally am very deeply offended that just like that, without any apparent reason, they just up and left. We opened McDonald's, and they all came out. This means that all premises must be deprived - either we simply expropriate them or buy them out. But in such a way that they will still have to pay us extra,” Volkov concluded.
