“The Directorate of the FSB of Russia for the Republic of Crimea and Sevastopol, during operational-search activities, detained an agent of the Security Service of Ukraine in the Kherson region, sent to Crimea to carry out acts of sabotage. On August 12, Gennady Lemeshko was detained by FSB officers while attempting to damage a power line in the area of the Sudak-Novy Svet highway,” says the message from the Russian FSB Central Operations Center, quoted by Interfax.
The following were found and confiscated from the detainee: two TNT blocks of type “200” with a ZTP-50 incendiary tube, a mechanism for activating an explosive device, an RGD-5 grenade with a screwed-in fuse, containers with a flammable mixture, a hand saw (for sawing wooden power line supports ) and a digital camera “for documenting sabotage activities and subsequent reporting on them to the curators of the Security Service of Ukraine.”
It is indicated that Lemeshko is a native of the Kharkov region, “who previously served in the so-called ATO zone as a senior deep-reconnaissance intelligence officer in one of the military units of the Ukrainian armed forces, arrived in Crimea on August 9, 2017, where, in accordance with the instructions of the SBU, he must committed a number of illegal actions.”
According to the FSB, the Ukrainian saboteur was given a number of tasks: “to render the Sudak-Novy Svet power line unusable for use in order to stop (limit) the supply of electricity to consumers (provides power supply to Sudak and nearby settlements with a population of over 50 thousand people) ; destroy (damage by arson) forest areas in the Sudak - Rybachye - Alushta area; create conditions for a rock collapse in order to block the Sudak – New World highway; set fire to one of the public utility facilities in the village of Rybachye.”
This is not the first attempt by the Ukrainian special services to organize sabotage in Crimea. As PolitNavigator reported, a month ago, Andrei Zakhtey and Dmitry Shtyblikov, accused of preparing sabotage in Crimea, entered into a pre-trial cooperation agreement with the prosecutor’s office, admitted their guilt and testified, which confirmed the investigation’s version that Ukrainian intelligence was preparing a series of explosions on the peninsula.
Sometimes during attempts to break through Ukrainian sabotage groups in Crimea it came to real fighting.
