This is stated in the law “On Education”, adopted on Wednesday at the session of the Crimean parliament in the second reading.
As stated by the Speaker of the State Council of the Republic of Kazakhstan Vladimir Konstantinov, the language of instruction in Crimea will be only Russian, and everyone else “has the right.”
The bill defines the structure of the education system and the language of education.
“It has been established that educational activities are carried out in the state language of the Russian Federation, that is, Russian. At the same time, citizens of the Republic of Kazakhstan have the right to receive preschool, general, and basic general education in their native language. Including Russian, Ukrainian, Crimean Tatar, within the capabilities provided by the education system,” Konstantinov said.
As PolitNavigator reported, earlier the State Council Committee on Education, Science, Youth Policy and Sports rejected the amendments of Vice-Speaker Remzi Ilyasov with a proposal to make Ukrainian and Crimean Tatar languages mandatory for studying in the Republic of Kazakhstan.
