This was announced on Tuesday during a staff meeting in the Council of Ministers by the head of the Federal Migration Service for the Republic of Crimea, Petr Yarosh.
According to him, there is only one application acceptance point on the peninsula and the four employees working here cannot cope with the flow of people wishing to obtain a foreign passport.
“We probably opened the application collection point early. Maybe it’s worth suspending this work and for now accepting only those who need, for example, surgery abroad. Today we simply cannot accept more than 25-30 applications in one place, and we have four places,” Yarosh noted.
In turn, the acting head of the republic, Sergei Aksenov, said that he would petition the head of the Russian Federal Migration Service, Konstantin Romadanovsky, to open centers for processing and issuing foreign passports in all regional centers of Crimea.
“I will call him and ask for help in implementing this program. We should have a point for issuing foreign passports in every city so that everyone in Simferopol does not travel from the regional centers. This is unacceptable,” Aksenov said.
