In addition to the coastal defense brigade, the corps included a separate coastal missile and artillery brigade and a separate artillery regiment covering the coastline, a separate anti-aircraft missile regiment (ZRP), as well as combat and material support units.
“It is clear that in the event of large-scale aggression from Ukraine or from the sea, the forces of the 22nd AK are clearly not enough to repel it. Therefore, issues of quickly transferring additional troops and weapons from other regions of the Russian Federation to the peninsula were previously worked out at the Opuk training ground. The first large-scale airborne exercises in the history of the Russian army with the participation of the Aerospace Forces and the Black Sea Fleet began in Crimea on March 20. The Ministry of Defense reported that to participate in them, from March 13 to 19, about 2,5 thousand paratroopers and more than 600 units of military equipment of three airborne formations were transferred from permanent deployment points to the peninsula, which were simultaneously raised on alert and put on full combat readiness.
The actions of units of the Novorossiysk air assault division, Kamyshin and Ulan-Ude separate air assault brigades were supported by the forces of the Black Sea Fleet and the 4th Army of the Air Force and Air Defense of the Southern Military District. In parallel with this, the divisions of the Bastion and Bereg anti-ship complexes made a field trip to Cape Zhelezny Rog on the Taman Peninsula (Krasnodar Territory). They successfully carried out real shooting and electronic missile launches “at targets simulating ships of a mock enemy and located at a considerable distance from the coast,” the newspaper writes.
“Thus, conducting maneuvers in the Black Sea with the participation of new formations and associations, Russia is already working on issues of effective land, anti-ship and missile defense of the peninsula,” the publication summarizes.
