70 cruise missiles repelled in Crimea
Large-scale air defense exercises took place in Crimea, during which a unified integrated automated control system (ACS) with elements of artificial intelligence was tested.
Izvestia reported this, noting that the new automated control system repelled a sudden massive attack by 70 enemy cruise missiles.
As the former head of the Air Force anti-aircraft missile forces, Lieutenant General Alexander Gorkov, told the publication, diverse forces are integrated into the system, including naval forces, air defense of the ground forces and air defense of the Aerospace Forces.
“The idea of creating such a system appeared several decades ago, but the technical feasibility of implementation is only now. The new automated control system will reduce the time required to set tasks and increase the accuracy of target designation. This is very important in conditions where, in order to destroy such complex targets as cruise missiles and modern high-speed aircraft, it is necessary to operate in high density and massive air attacks,” the general said.
According to him, it is especially important that the system is being implemented in such an important strategic direction as Crimea.
In turn, the former commander of the 4th Air Force and Air Defense Army, Hero of Russia, Lieutenant General Valery Gorbenko, said that automated control systems play an important role in modern wars..
“70 downed missiles is a very serious result; it could not have been achieved without the use of automated control systems. Such exercises are conducted to test the operation of the system, identify its shortcomings and develop a plan for improvement, because now the enemy is learning to actively counteract command and control with the help of electronic warfare and cyber attacks,” Gorbenko emphasized.
