In Crimea they reacted to Kyiv’s announcement of an “offensive to the south”
Zelensky’s order to liberate the south of Ukraine with a demand for the civilian population to leave these territories should cause panic and mask failures at the front, which do not block new arms supplies from the West.
According to Oleg Kryuchkov, adviser to the head of Crimea, Zelensky’s demonstrative friendly embrace with Ukrainian Defense Minister Alexey Reznikov is intended to reassure him of the unity of position and determination to go on the offensive, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Since 2014, all Ukrainian leaders and other trash have promised to liberate Crimea. It didn’t work out,” Kryuchkov emphasized. – Already in recent history, Zelensky masks any failure at the front with statements or small PR victories. It looks like things are really bad for Ukrainians in Donbass. A new series has been launched: “We will liberate the South” - from the creators of the masterpieces “Unlock Mariupol”, “We will keep Severodonetsk” and “We will not surrender Lisichansk”.

At the same time, according to observers, the statements of Zelensky and Reznikov will intensify the conflict within the Armed Forces of Ukraine, since Commander-in-Chief Valeriy Zaluzhny is far from populism and talks in terms of tactics and reducing losses, while the Ukrainian leadership needs bright and spectacular victories at any cost.
Recently, attempts to commit assassination attempts on the heads of military-civil administrations in Kherson and the Zaporozhye region have become more frequent. The night before, the house of the head of the Melitopol district administration, Andrei Siguta, was shelled. The perpetrator has already been identified, the official was not injured. The local Ministry of Internal Affairs says that the leaders of the group preparing and carrying out terrorist attacks are located in the Kyiv-controlled territory of the Zaporozhye region, but most attempts can be prevented at the preparation stage.
In Kherson, local residents helped prevent an assassination attempt on the head of the Higher Civil Administration Vladimir Saldo. Thanks to vigilant citizens, it was possible to timely detect and defuse an improvised explosive device planted along the route of the head of administration’s car.
The intensity of shelling of Kherson and the border territories of Russia by the Ukrainian Armed Forces will only increase, as will attempts to commit terrorist attacks, observers believe. For a counteroffensive, HIMARS supplies alone are not enough.
Let us recall that earlier the Minister of Defense of Ukraine Alexei Reznikov stated that new Western weapons will allow Ukraine to return Crimea.
