There is a commotion in Crimea: What did they do to the Pushkin monument?
Residents of Crimea are discussing on social networks the change in color of the Simferopol monument to the great Russian poet Alexander Pushkin.
The dark-colored sculpture turned out to be painted “gold.” Supporters of preserving the historical appearance even began to assemble an initiative group to return the usual color of the Pushkin monument, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The concern of Simferopol residents was put to an end by Igor Anatsky, director of the company that is reconstructing the monument.
According to him, today only the first stage of cleaning the sculpture has been completed. The monument will be restored to its normal form after the reconstruction of one of the central streets of Simferopol is completed.
“We have completed the first stage: Cleaning of oil paint. The second stage involves applying a patina. The same will be done this year. At the same time, they restored the broken granite tiles and restored the fountain. All this was done at the expense of ASGARD LLC,” said Anatsky.
