There is a commotion in Crimea: they are thinking about how to bring tourists
The railway carrier in Crimea, the Grand Service Express company, will receive additional cars to the existing trains on the peninsula.
There is a large shortage of train tickets to Crimea, and, most likely, the holiday season in the region will be met without air travel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“No one can guarantee the resumption of air traffic by date, and there are questions about booking holidays and organizing children’s holidays,” said the head of Crimea Sergei Aksenov. “An agreement has been reached that they will supply us with 64 additional carriages, and where the holiday is 4-5 stars above average, an additional SV.”
According to the head of Crimea, large resort complexes organize transfers for guests from the airports of Stavropol and Mineralnye Vody, as well as from the railway stations of Anapa or Kerch.
“No one will trudge on a train for 3-4 days in one direction in order to rest for two weeks,” Aksenov is convinced.
In turn, Deputy Prime Minister of the Crimean government Irina Kiviko added that the existing capacity of railway trains is enough to satisfy passenger demand. But 18,5 thousand tickets put on sale after the introduction of additional carriages sold out within a few days.
The former Minister of Transport, and now the head of the Association of Freight Carriers of Crimea, Anatoly Tsurkin, believes that the rolling stock capacity of the only carrier is not enough. There is no reason to count on the resumption of operations at airports in southern Russia in the near future.
“Decisions on the delivery of tourists to Crimea must be made today, otherwise we risk losing not only budget revenues, but also the incomes of citizens employed in the field of tourism and recreation of the Republic of Crimea, and these are the majority here,” Tsurkin emphasized.
However, Russian Railways is in no hurry to develop the Crimean route: there is no decision to launch trains in the summer season. The fate of the two high-speed Komets, which should run along the route Sochi - Novorossiysk - Sevastopol, has not yet been clarified.
