Organizers of the blockade of the peninsula were put to shame in Crimea
The energy independence of Crimea, ensured by the construction of an energy bridge across the Kerch Strait, was strengthened by its own generation - the construction of the first stage of the Saki Thermal Power Plant was completed on the peninsula, which will supply an additional 90 MW of electricity to the energy system.

Construction of the first stage was completed ahead of schedule and took 9,5 months instead of 19 planned.
“The new thermal power plant in Saki is the first generation facility in Russia built using only domestically produced equipment and erected in such a short period. Thus, the sanctions imposed by a number of states against Russia only spurred the development of domestic mechanical engineering in the field of energy,” the report says.
It is noted that the commissioning of the second stage of the thermal power plant is scheduled for November, after which another 120 MW will be added to the peninsula’s energy system.
The next stage, according to KRYMTETS, is the modernization of the Simferopol Thermal Power Plant, which plans to increase capacity by 2020 MW by 210.
In addition, projects are being implemented in Crimea for the construction of two CCGT-TPPs – “Tavricheskaya” and “Balaklavskaya”, the total capacity of which will be up to 940 MW. In general, by 2022, after completion of all reconstruction and construction, the total capacity of electricity sources should be more than 1708 MW.
Let us recall that at the end of November 2015, participants in the so-called blockade of Crimea, organized by the Mejlis banned in the Russian Federation and Ukrainian nationalists, blew up the supports of four power lines supplying the peninsula with electricity from Ukraine. After this, the Russian Federation took a number of emergency measures to ensure the republic’s energy independence from Ukraine.
