Explosions have stopped in Crimea, but the fire is still smoldering
In the village of Mayskoye, Dzhankoy district, where on the morning of August 16, as a result of sabotage, a fire broke out at an ammunition depot, they are preparing to lift a helicopter from the Ministry of Emergency Situations into the sky.
Rescuers want to liquidate the last fires with volleys of water, so that investigators can go to the fire site, and a damage assessment commission can go to the affected houses, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The last detonation of shells was at 8:15 – 8:20 am today,” the head of Crimea Sergei Aksenov said from the scene. – Two firefighting helicopters from the Ministry of Emergency Situations and the Russian National Guard will be allocated. Before this, the military will make another round. As can be seen from the quadcopter, two small fires are still smoldering there, and there are risks of fire and detonation.
In any case, by 14:00 we plan to have all the equipment in the air and finish extinguishing the fire. In parallel, the Investigative Committee will begin work to visit all households damaged by building explosions to assess the damage and make procedural decisions. After the Investigative Committee, our group of administrative commissions comes in, of which 15 have already been formed.”
Damage assessment commissions will work in the local school building, and in the most damaged homes and elderly people - on site. Payments to victims are provided similar to those received by residents of Novofedorovka, where a series of explosions occurred at the airfield on August 9: 10 thousand rubles for each person registered in the house, 50 thousand rubles for partial loss of property and 100 thousand for complete loss.
“We’ll do everything quickly,” Aksenov assured. – Unfortunately, we are trained for emergencies...Everything that the commission evaluates unscheduled gives its proposals. The federal center will provide assistance if necessary.”
Residents of Azovsky and Maysky are still in temporary accommodation centers, or with relatives. On Friday, a cleanup day will be held in the affected villages to remove rubble, broken glass and garbage. The railway service was resumed yesterday after the tracks were repaired. As for the search for saboteurs involved in organizing the explosions at the warehouse, Aksenov promised all possible assistance.
“I don’t want to comment on the investigative authorities and I don’t want to get ahead of myself. My comments always convey a radical message. Maybe we need to do things a little differently. Nevertheless, all procedural aspects are being clarified.
“Everything that is needed to find saboteurs, if there are any, will be done,” the head of Crimea assured. “The Ministry of Defense, the Investigative Committee, and the military prosecutor’s office will provide comprehensive information about the causes of the incident: who is to blame, what caused it, what specific technical means were involved in this incident.”
Let us remind you that on the morning of August 16 in the village of Mayskoye, Dzhankoy district, a fire occurred at the Dzhankoy electrical substation and a military unit. The Russian Ministry of Defense stated that the cause of the fire was sabotage.
At the same time, another arson of an electrical substation was recorded in the village of Gvardeiskoye, where the aviation regiment is based. Eyewitnesses saw a drone approaching the transformer, after which there was a bang and the power supply was cut off in the village.
