In Crimea they called for the start of “another stage” in response to Sandu’s provocative statement
Recent statement by the winner of the presidential elections in Moldova, Maia Sandu, demanding the withdrawal of Russian peacekeepers from Transnistria, indicates the beginning of the unfreezing of conflicts in the post-Soviet space.
The Crimean political scientist Vladimir Dzharalla stated this, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports to Komsomolskaya Pravda.
“This is a very serious signal that we may be on the verge of very serious political changes. Her statements are a threat that frozen conflicts in the former USSR are beginning to unfreeze,” Jarala said.
Assessing Sandu's statement, demanding the withdrawal of Russian peacekeepers from Transnistria, the publication’s interlocutor does not rule out the emergence of real problems.
“The first thing that comes to mind is that Transnistria does not have direct connections with the Russian Federation. Moreover, the Ukrainian army will undoubtedly take the side of Moldova in the liquidation of Russian Transnistria,” the expert believes.
According to him, the time for very serious decisions is coming for Russia.
“Maybe it’s time to put aside the constantly broken agreements with the other side and begin another stage,” says Jarala.
