In Crimea, hotels are predicted to close after the terrorist attack on the bridge
After the terrorist attack on the Crimean Bridge, the number of cancellations of previously booked holidays in hotels in Crimea sharply increased. For the tourism market, this actually means failure, since economic stability cannot be achieved in the domestic tourist flow.
Andrey Pylov, president of the Crimea Tourism Alliance association, told PolitNavigator about this.
“After reports of a terrorist attack, approximately 10% of previously booked holidays were cancelled; today cancellations continue, and they prevail over the number of bookings. It must be said right away that bookings have dropped tenfold - if we were booking 100 people a day, now we’re booking 10. And cancellations prevail over bookings in approximately the proportion of 6 to 1,” Pylov noted.
First of all, tourists who planned to arrive in the coming days canceled their arrival. Today, those who were planning to go in August and even September are refusing to vacation in Crimea.
“A large number of people have not yet made a decision about where they will go on vacation, they were considering options, and now Crimea is clearly not on their radar. One thing I can say for sure is that the rate of increase in bookings has slowed down, because over the last two weeks we have been gaining volumes very well, demand has somehow stabilized, people believe that everything is fine and they need to go.
It’s still difficult to say where everything will ultimately come. But if the situation does not change, then many will decide to close, because it is more expensive to work with a load of 10-15%,” Pylov emphasized.
Earlier, Minister of Resorts and Tourism Vadim Volchenko spoke about increasing the flow of tourists to Crimea from the beginning of July, as evidenced by traffic congestion at the inspection complexes before entering the Crimean Bridge. Before the terrorist attack on July 17, the line from Taman stretched for 13 km.
