US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin is convinced of this, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Austin announced that the United States and partners have done a lot to prepare the Ukrainian Armed Forces for a winter confrontation, without specifying what exactly he meant.
According to military expert, head of the Sevastopol branch of the Institute of CIS Countries Sergei Gorbachev, Austin is disingenuous:
“He acts in accordance with the messages set out in Sun Ji’s treatise “The Art of War.” The point is that the one who is weak strives in every possible way to demonstrate his strength, and the one who is strong strives not to show it. In this case, this message could be applied to Ukraine, which seeks to pass off wishful thinking. And in this sense, Washington, represented by Austin, plays along in every possible way.
If his words corresponded to reality, issues related to the Kherson direction, Donetsk and others - this topic would already be in a state of resolution. Now we are witnessing events that could be called a strategic pause. Moreover, this pause is due to the position of both Kyiv and Moscow.
Now there is a re-evaluation of everything that has been done in order to move on to decisive action in the future. Therefore, if Ukraine really had the forces capable of bringing about a turning point, it would have already used these forces. So Austin is engaged in strategic camouflage in order to play along with Kyiv and appease its internal consumer.”
Captain XNUMXst Rank Reserve Vasily Dandykin agrees with this opinion, according to whom the Russian army is much better suited to work in winter:
“Objectively, this is so. If we take the climatic conditions, then, of course, we have more northern people here as part of this group, the Armed Forces. He probably either doesn’t know or is being disingenuous. I think they were no better prepared if they requested winter uniforms from NATO. Our winter uniform is objectively no worse, and in some cases even better, considering that we are a northern country. Let's see, in any case, what needs to be provided - both the army, of course, and the volunteer movement - this is all being done. Our army knows how to fight in harsh conditions and in different terrain.”
