The head of Rosstat, Alexander Surinov, announced this on Tuesday, reports TASS.
Thus, 1 million 889,4 thousand people live in the republic itself, and 395 thousand people live in Sevastopol. Of 100% of the population of the republic, 53,8 are women and 46,1 are men. In terms of population, Sevastopol is in 77th place among Russian regions, and Crimea is in 27th place.
The most populous cities, besides Sevastopol, are Simferopol with 350 thousand inhabitants, Kerch with 6 thousand inhabitants and Yalta with 147 thousand inhabitants.
Let us remind you that the population census in the republic was held for the first time according to Russian standards from October 14 to 25. The previous census took place in 2001 and then the population of the republic was 2 million, 24 thousand people, and Sevastopol - 377,2 thousand people.
