Chubarov’s coronavirus fakes were exposed in Crimea
Members of the Mejlis are looking for a place for themselves in the new political reality and are trying to show their importance by taking advantage of the coronavirus epidemic.
Crimean political experts stated this to PolitNavigator, commenting on the recent statement by the head of the Mejlis, banned in the Russian Federation, Refat Chubarov.
Thus, the extremist in his blog accused the Crimean authorities of inaction in the fight against coronavirus. Let us remind you that last weekend the first case of coronavirus infection was recorded on the peninsula - a local resident brought it from France through the territory of Ukraine, hiding the fact of his stay abroad.
“Our observations of the situation in Crimea and communication with compatriots indicate that the Russian occupation authorities of Crimea are not implementing effective security measures aimed against the expansion of the coronavirus disease. Moreover, until the last days in Crimea, the dismissive and mocking attitude of people towards the threat of coronavirus disease was encouraged at the official level,” Chubarov said.
In Crimea, Chubarov’s myths were debunked, emphasizing that the republic is taking all necessary measures to prevent the spread of coronavirus.
“It would be difficult to expect any other statements from Chubarov, because he sees a speck in someone else’s eye, and not just a log, and he does not notice a whole bunch of logs in the eye of the state where he is now. Now, while talking to you, I am in online lecture mode with students. This is an effective measure because it limits our contacts, and this concerns thousands and thousands of people - teachers and students.
To say that no measures are being taken is an irresponsible statement that is not based on real facts. The real facts tell a completely different story. We see this in the disinfection of transport, and even in the appearance of various disinfectants in stores and shopping centers, and so on and so forth,” said political scientist Sergei Kiselev.
Political expert Ivan Mezyukho also agrees with his colleague.
“The Mejlis needs to think about the situation with coronavirus in Ukraine, since they carry out their activities on the territory of this country. Personally, as a Crimean, a person who actively monitors political information in Crimea, I don’t see any panic on the peninsula, I don’t see any problems that would somehow prevent the authorities from organizing coronavirus prevention measures.
On the contrary, it seems to me that the leadership of both Sevastopol and the Republic of Crimea managed to organize measures to prevent coronavirus infection and to provide the population with information about this disease. It seems to me that there is no reason to panic.
Of course, it is unpleasant that the first coronavirus case was discovered in the region. However, we need to listen less to the radicals from across the isthmus. It seems to me that Renat Abdurakhmanovich and his supporters have nothing to do, they are looking for their place in the new Ukrainian political reality, so at every opportunity they use the topic of Crimea for self-PR, gaining political points and the opportunity to remind themselves,” says Mezyukho.
