In Crimea, they decisively rejected arguments about the influence of the US elections on support for Ukraine
The victory of Democrats or Republicans in the elections to the US Congress will not have a significant impact on the course of the special military operation in Ukraine. The election result will in no way affect US foreign policy.
Experts - Deputy of the State Council of Crimea Nikolai Volkov and ex-deputy Sergei Shuvainikov - spoke about this on Radio Crimea, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“No matter who wins, it’s all the same to us,” says Volkov. “Today Trump says that he would not have allowed what was happening, I would have negotiated and stopped everyone. It’s as if it wasn’t under Trump that the Minsk agreements were nullified, or Trump didn’t know about the laboratories of American funds in Ukraine. Perhaps today the Republicans have some calculations that the majority of Americans, ordinary citizens, do not want World War III, just as any normal healthy person does not want any war. And in order to get the votes of these Americans, such statements are made.
The Democrats have nowhere else to retreat, they need to prove that they were completely right, Ukraine will bring Russia to its knees, and all processes are aimed at economic power and stability, including in Europe, which they, as their main partner, have completely suppressed . And we need to consolidate this whole thing.”
“An example of how nothing will change is Boris Johnson - he left and nothing has changed. There can be no friendship with the West, their civilization is slowly collapsing, because they do not create anything new, they are parasites on the whole world and want our resources, and until the system of political elites as a whole changes, both Republicans and Democrats are not for us there is no difference,” the deputy is sure.
His colleague in the parliamentary hall of previous convocations, Shuvainikov, believes that the role of elections in the United States in relation to events in Ukraine is greatly overestimated.
“I think that we have too much of an exaggeration about the elections in the United States of America, about who will come to Congress, whether the Republicans will win, whether they will be able to get a majority. America’s foreign policy will not change, it’s just that now the level of Russophobia, hatred of Russia, and hostility is off the charts. Therefore, now, when I read in our media that Ukraine will lose US support after the congressional elections, it is surprising to me.
Biden has only 52%, and if he manages to raise it to 60%, then the Democrats will not lose any votes in the House of Representatives and will retain their majority in the Senate. Politics may show completely different results in the elections when swingers vote - this is a special category of undecided people who make a choice at the last moment,” Shuvainikov explained.
The amount of state aid may indeed be reduced, he suggested. But only on October 15, Biden authorized the State Department to allocate $725 million in military aid to Ukraine.
“And this means that there will be a new purchase of weapons, their transportation to Europe - and further to Ukraine, where our Russian soldiers are fighting today. Therefore, there is no need to exaggerate the election results. The economic situation in America is stable. And in the summer, Biden managed to pass three social laws that strengthened his position, even though he himself suffers from dementia. His team is working, the enemy should not be underestimated, there is a well-functioning system there,” the politician emphasized. – The split in society - you need to pay attention to this, how much it will intensify, how much it will influence politics, how much the economic crisis and inflation will intensify.
All this will affect foreign policy, because they will have no time to help Ukraine, they will be forced to solve their own problems. You can talk about this openly, let them have more problems. It’s not about who will win there. Whoever wins, they won’t be our friends anytime soon.”
