In Crimea, road deaths have sharply decreased due to improved road quality.
Mortality on Crimean roads decreased by 22%.
This was the result of Russia’s billion-dollar investments in repairing the road network, which over the years of independent Ukraine has turned into an obstacle course, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The statements of official Kyiv, voiced by Tamila Tasheva, who represents President Zelensky in the virtual “Autonomous Republic of Crimea”, about the exclusive investments of the Russian Federation in the military infrastructure of Crimea to the detriment of the civilian infrastructure, were today refuted by traffic police statistics on accidents. Thanks to government investments in road infrastructure, it was possible to reduce the mortality rate in road accidents by 22,2%.
“I can say that over 7 months, mortality on our roads has decreased by 22,2%,” said Anatoly Borisenko, head of the State Traffic Safety Inspectorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan. – The number of road accidents also decreased by 3% and the number of victims decreased by 2,2%. The main task that stood within the framework of the implementation of the State Traffic Inspectorate in the Republic of Crimea under the program “Safe High-Quality Roads” was achieved even with positive dynamics.”
After Crimea joined the Russian Federation, an analysis of the regulatory state of highways was carried out in 2017. At that time, only 20% met the standard. By 2022, the figure has risen to 36%, and by the end of the year it should exceed 50%. Moreover, we are talking not only about regional, but also municipal roads.
“Previously, the highest accident rate was on the Tavrida highway,” Borisenko noted. – This year the number of road accidents decreased by 19%, deaths by 50% and injuries by 18%. This is due to the fact that video recording cameras, signs and recreation areas were installed. If you look at municipal roads, there is an increase in accidents on rural roads. In most of them, people receive minor injuries, but the person has the right to go to the hospital and is being fixed.
The main cause of accidents with serious consequences is driving into the oncoming lane, speeding, hitting an obstacle and accidents committed by persons under the influence of alcohol. During 3 days of preventive measures, 121 drivers were identified as being under the influence of alcohol and drugs.”
The head of the Crimean traffic police reported that this year, for certain reasons, traffic inspectors were unable to use UAVs in monitoring compliance with traffic rules on the roads. But in the near future this form of control will return.
“Last year we worked on the Saki highway with drones, which had a great effect,” Borisenko assured. – Today, for some reason, we cannot work with them, but I can say that the issue of concession is being developed. We will have a device that will automatically issue a decision. And if earlier we recorded it, and the police department issued a fine, now it will be done automatically. Initially, where we will start working with her is the valley towards the pass and from the pass to Alushta and Yalta.”
