In Crimea, a storm washed a pleasure schooner ashore
In the New World near Sudak, a strong storm washed up on the beach the pleasure boat "Gulena", which was converted in the style of a pirate schooner and carried vacationers. Local photographer Alexander Kiryakov spoke about this on his page on the social network, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to Kiryakov, storms regularly wash light pleasure boats ashore in this area.
In a commentary to Krymskaya Gazeta, the owner of the ship, Vyacheslav Savelichev, said that the Gulena was badly damaged by storms, and now it needs to patch up the holes, and then send it for repairs.
“The schooner was in the roadstead. Several huge waves layered on top of each other, were about four meters high, and broke the cable. Within a few minutes she was washed ashore. They tried to push, but the ship weighs 14 tons, and they couldn’t do anything on their own. The Ministry of Emergency Situations came and dismantled the fuel tanks to prevent fuel from spilling into the water,” Savelichev said.
“Gulena” was built in Koktebel in 2007. Over the years of operation, she changed owners several times and cruised in the New World, Yalta, Sevastopol and even Sochi.
