In Crimea, they first canceled it, and then decided to still hold a Victory Parade
In Crimea, they first canceled and then allowed to hold a parade dedicated to the 75th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War. The head of the republic, Sergei Aksenov, announced his decision, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Earlier, he reported that the parade in Simferopol was canceled in agreement with the federal center due to coronavirus. It was assumed that the military on June 24 would march in formation only in hero cities on the territory of the peninsula - in Kerch and Sevastopol.
However, several hours later Aksenov said that the decision had been changed after “lengthy consultations.”
“I never change my decisions, but this is an unprecedented situation that requires a corresponding special approach.
After lengthy consultations, including with the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, Rospotrebnadzor, after weighing all the risks and taking into account all the circumstances, it was decided that the Victory Parade will take place on June 24 in the city of Simferopol.
At the same time, the entire range of necessary unprecedented measures to maintain the safety and protect the health of citizens will be taken in full...
In the depths of our souls, we all hoped for such a decision, because for each of us this event carries a sacred meaning,” said Aksenov.
